I am old… painting my office

I cannot paint and NOT get it on my hands. Ever.

also forget to take before pictures. This HUGE desk was on the far wall when I started. I painted the wall behind it then asked the airmen to help lift and shift it to the opposite wall. They were great help and got it moved…then I started on the REST of the walls. The big screen on the wall could come down as I’ll never use it. BUT for now it stays. Someone may want to use it eventually.

The baby poo. Oh I mean peach is the old color and the light blue/grey is the new. It’s so much brighter already!!

The first wall completed.

The awful peach with drinks spilled down the wall to just add the perfect touch. 🤮

So glad I painted. I will show the final look once o get everything moved back in. I have three guest chairs that will be moved around. A plant stand that really has no home. This office is the same size but the computer screen on the wall really takes options off the table. So, we work around it.

Next up phone move network drop activated and I’ll be done. Oh and moving the few additional items into the room I’ll need. I NEED to get rid of a lot of things!!  Guess it’s time to cull!!

Don’t think I escaped unscathed with just paint on my hands. Nope. My body is hurting. I have tail bone pain after all this… why tail bone pain?  Not a freaking clue. Pelvic floor failures and life of a woman who had had one too many pelvic surgeries?  Who knows. But I have spent all of Saturday laying low and using my lovely new percussion massager on my hips and saddle areas. It’s still not happy but feeling better after just resting. I’ll be a back at it again tomorrow I’m sure.

Visit with Mommie Dearest

And captured from a video I had.

‘’Twas a cloud filled trip for sure. It was either FULL clouds and bland or beautiful storms!  I was even rained on in Vegas!  Not typical!

Mom said folks were going to think I never have flow before ;) I’m ok with that - ha!

It was a good visit and as always I didn’t take many pictures.

This is mom reading a card from a friend who sent money to me at dads passing. I used the money to take mom out to eat while I was there. We went to Applebees once, the McDonalds (her choice) and to Linda’s one night :) oh and IHOP for breakfast one day. I joined her af her place for dinner or lunch one day and sat with her while she had her breakfast one day as well. We laid around talking and visiting and took drives up the mountains and even went to the nursery to get her a new plant.

She and Robert we rubbing on each other one afternoon :)
Robert, Linda, Mike and I played games at night and had a very good visit!

In the evening it’s so nice to sit out in their back porch!

Then all too soon it was time to head home again. I came in Thursday night super later - or super early Friday morning.  Spend Friday - Sunday with mom for as long as she would have me each day!  She only tapped out once and said “nope, I need to go take a nap” and we let her be, but that wasn’t until Sunday!  Worked on her stamina and strength while I was there with lots of walking and more calories than she’s used to. We will get her up to fighting weight yet!!

The flights home had lots of pretty clouds coming into Atlanta

No video to catch the lightning under this storm.

Not the same cell but a good one from the ground!

A good trip. Now I need a few days to recuperate!!

Work around the house

My coffee company this morning.

He was very interesting and calm. I watched him for quite some time and shortly after this picture he flew off.

I finally got off my duff and put the entertainment center on Marketplace. Hopefully it will sell and be gone soon - as there are two items behind this you can’t see. A desk and a dresser. Both roadside finds.

And hung pictures in the bath. It seems to be grandma floral.

They definitely have a grandma vibe but they were so pretty. The middle one with the zinias had a bit of damage but I wanted to keep them together so picked them all up. I planned on seeking them but didn’t. Story of my life. Maybe I’ll sell them later?  Until then they’ll stay here.

I also picked up two German paintings at an estate sale. They’re pretty!

And… two glass paperweights, yeah yeah yeah. I need to stop. Eventually!!

CT follow ups. (Insert mysterious music)

Ok. The official report says this from the PET scan:

What does this mean? They were looking at a spot roughly .5” x .4” on my rights side when surprise!  It didn’t have a high uptake of the material they use for contrast. This means it’s not gobbling it up. I think it’s sugar based and cancer loves sugar. Who doesn’t right?

So. Right side not “hot” but the other side DID. Hurumph. Yep. Same size, different side. They are not playing nice.  They are JUST outside acceptable size ranges and one is “active”. Does this mean I definitely have a recurrence?  Nope. Does it mean I’m going to be watched closely. Yep.

Add in the report it shows that my lungs still show the little nodules (2) that can not be ruled out as metastatic cancer. They don’t show on the PET but it’s not a guarantee they are OK either. BUT after having nodules in the past I’m not too concerned with them in the long run. They could surprise me, but I’m doubtful.

The concern I have is the left side where it’s active because that’s in the area where I had the cancer. So it could be as they say “seeding” from the original cancer being removed.

Basically “we don’t know” is the answer and I go back in 90 days for a repeat scan. Fun times, fun times.

I had the vision of being like Christi with breast cancer. Go through treatment and have annual mammograms. That’s it. Nothing too indepth now that she’s past the original cancer

My body wants to just lurk and sprout weird things. I realize that now with all the new things popping up 5 year mark means diddly in my world.

I’ll mourn that loss and move along. But dang it, I was hoping to be that percent that sails through and is clean and done without looking back. Not meant to be for now.

Here’s hoping things in there calm the heck down and go away it just hold steady. The oncologist mentioned if no change at next scan (3 months) we back off to 6… this after German doctors for three years. I got complacent. They didn’t do much scanning. They leave you be and x-ray and ultrasound. NOT effective in early diagnosis….. but what if they are doing it right and NOT bombarding the body with radiation so frequently???  We shall never know. I just know I had a good time traveling Europe sans the whole Covid thing which put a damper on life…I enjoyed thinking I was golden.

Bum bum bum - shoe dropped on return. Ah well as my cancer community says, could be worse. Could be WAY worse. Starting to count my blessings again and move along and let it go…. Mourning period over. I have gardening and swimming (aka floating) to do now. It’s summer and I’m back in the land of HEAT!!!

Fun fabulous Fourth of July week!

Robert and Janet met us at the little house for a whole week of fun and sun in Fort Walton

Sitting and waiting at the landing for the fireworks to start. Funnel cakes were yummy!!!

I had a palm tree in my view but it was still a great show!

Looking for sand flea’s

Looking for shells and sand fleas. (Not sure why I don’t have a picture of one. They did catch a few)

Here’s one from the internet. What you can see in the outgoing wave is the antenna seen above on the far right. They spread them out to catch food to eat. Weird creatures a cross between a crab and a Rolly Polly. If you disturb them you can see them rolling out in the outgoing wave.

Butch and I and bo that’s not a green yarmulke. It’s an umbrella behind us. Ha!

Janet and I enjoying the sun and sand

Sandcastles from a different view point

Robert and I coming off the beach.

Afternoon of floating and swimming at the beach with Rob and Janet
I don’t know why I don’t go to the beach more often but Janet hit it on the head.  The pool is so much easier. We can just pop over and swim without having to lug stuff around.

A little drama one night as there was a shooting across the street at the rec center. Poor guy laid out there dead for hours in the hot hot sun. Sad to see. Cars were blocking him towards the end but Sally working for the city knew the gal working this end of the roadblock so she came over and we got the lowdown. It was sad even if it was drug deals gone wrong.

Not a lot of pictures. We ate at Stewbys a few times. Tried a new Thai place that was good. Had lunch with sally at Taco Town on Tuesday. Had Waffle House after that late afternoon at the beach as most restaurants were closed. Had pork links with peppers and onions one night and stuffed pork chops another night. We had at least two breakfasts with sausage and gravy which grandma loved. We played 5 crown, push the dummy and Rumicub.  Janet was sweet and got sally for large print cards that she could see well enough yo play push the dummy and hold her own!  She also bought her a large format Rumicub game. That one didn’t work as well, but she could see a bit of it.

I swear Janet’s sweet!

Angela even came down for two nights and theee days and was there for the 4th. I was so happy she came down!! (No phot proof of her!!). I am awful and really tend to just be there now rather than take pictures. It’s a lot more fun!!

Here’s hoping we can host more family down here over the years to come!!
