My girlies!!

I was a mess this day, I had been crying about something to do with the cancer diagnosis/treatment/schedule, something earlier, my hair was a mess, I wasn't dressed for the occasion... I was having morbid thoughts that I wanted to be in this picture so they would remember me before it all changed... before I wasn't "me" anymore... so I jumped in...

I don't feel the morbid thoughts anymore, however, I'm super grateful I DID jump into that picture with these two beauties!!

Update

I spent the day on and off writing a update, then mailed it to myself only to discover the base email is seriously jacked up. The email never got here....

So the brief highlights.
My bedside manner sucks as bad as Butch's. I blurted out cancer to the girls like it's no big deal. Hopefully they buy that...but they're not dumb...I'm sure they get I'll be sick a while.

My odds are looking 100% good in my mind. CT and x-ray on the 5th from the initial bleed are all clear (read the results myself today!)

I went to work Wednesday and cried most of the day. Not sure what my coworkers think as they were busy putting out fires while I was scrambling for appointments and calling drs offices and crying some more.

I got an appointment with Mayo Clinic in a Jacksonville on the 21st.

I called my docs nurses line and ended up getting my appointment moved up from next Tuesday to today. Pays to cry at times.

I survived the first day at work in one piece! Yay.

Today I did the follow up. I heard condescension. Butch just heard brusk and to the point. Hate to break it to him, it's all about me right now. I rule this one. He didn't like his approach and lack of experience- he's general surgeon, not specialized. Either way, he's out. I'm sure he's fine for general surgery, but that isn't what I need.

So, Mr C (need to name this thing) is round, 5cm long, circumferential (see? Use words like that and I think you're a show off condescending butt!! Say "rounded") and eroded on one side. I recorded the meeting so I can review later. There are NO pictures. Yeah, waiting for the WTF that I think both Butch and I had at that. I thought they all recorded the procedures. Again, one more "nope" vote.

So far we have:
Eroded = bad
Location = good
size = bad
neighborhood not showing signs of equal rebellion ='good.
Jury is still out until we remove and then we get to figure out stage with 100% accuracy.

The next step is MRI. I'm going to call Mayo tomorrow to see if I can get it done there...it just makes more sense. This Docs office is saying I have to wait for insurance approval to schedule. I think that's bunk...but I'll call tomorrow to ask. Quite frankly today I was just got too tired to do more than work...and do a little research.

I made it through most of the Drs meeting and only cried once. Just hit my limit for a second. Doc did the wrong thing in my books by not stopping but immediately turning to Butch to continue the discussion. (Tires screeching and me flipping the bird!!) Oh HELL NO, it's NOT his body we're discussing here..it's mine. Yeah, I have control (....and anger issues at the moment, wouldn't you??)

And with that, I took the afternoon after work to get copies of my CT scan and records then came home and watched a movie...I needed to just "not" tonight. I'll jump in tomorrow

And on the home front, Liz had a fender bender. Not her fault a lady turned left right into her path! Shook her up as she didn't have her license with her AND she was in my car (insert wailing and gnashing of teeth!)

You can see the fenders rolled under. Poor Reba!!!
She'll get fixed soon. I went to drop her off thinking this is the ONE thing I have control over fixing....yeah, thanks karma. I have to wait for the other ladies insurance.

Way to go Liz!!

A mothers insanity (updated with Title list!)

So a discussion with a kid (Liz) revealed a desire for her to collect Laser Disk movies. Who remembers those?  I remember there was a "kid" in his 20s in Missouri who opened a little video store at the freeway there at Buckhorn exit (yeah, I had to look that one up!!). He not only rented the laser disks he would rent you the players too. That was in 1985ish. So, fast forward and laser disks fell out of fashion QUICKLY with VHS and the DVDs following suit.

Liz found two disks at my favorite junk store a few months ago but put them back with a comment that the players were cost prohibitive. Ok case closed, right?

Fast forward to this week at work when the discussion focused around a coworker whose mom stated "come get this stuff or it all goes to Goodwill". He talked about all the albums they took from her house and the reel to reel tapes (THAT will take some of you back!!). He and his wife are musicians. So these made sense to them. Then he mentioned she had a ton of Laser Disks that we're going to Goodwill. I commented that Liz had toyed with the thought of a collection but didn't have a player. Well ANOTHER co worker said she had a player she didn't want. The two discussed the types of laser disks in question and we determined the player would play said laser disks.
So the laser disk player was delivered. It's a Pioneer from Japan - switchable dual voltage. It's in very good condition.

So the decision was made and a deal was struck to pay for some laser disks to help out "Mom" the timing was good too as her heater just had issues so this will offset the cost of her repairs. Win/Win.

So how many disks are we talking??  See for yourself.
Are you floored??

Me too!!!  I regretted this decision after I had to carry them all into the house!!  The boxes are loaded light as she was loading them up to allow her to get the to her car.

How many of them are there??  I have not done a physical count however have been told there are 235 of them. Yes, you read that correctly.

I will be doing an inventory this weekend to document the titles of all of them and will have an official count them. (I'll update this post when I get it)

A bit of fun history. There were a few IBM instructional videos in there. The prior owner was involved in the creation of the first personal computer from IBM. He was a technician for IBM for years. He was also a professional photographer and would take pictures of food in Japan for the businesses to use in advertising. Interesting life, eh?

Lizzie's first day of Sophomore year

Lizzie's first day of Sophomore year. Ok not really. She's going to school two weeks early to train to be a CL (community leader - what used to be resident advisors in my day)

The car is JAM packed!!

Only one seat for Liz. Good thing she's tiny!!

Her dorm main building Southern Pines.

Lizzie by her building.

Me crying over Lizzie going back to school.

Nawh. She's going to have another glorious adventurous year in college! Have fun and be good Lizzie!!

In other news...

Today was cast check! Lizzie had a naked leg for the first time in three weeks!

There is a marked difference in calf size :o/ Her foot is still swollen :o(

And blue in odd spots..where the blood pooled from the bruises. I would have thought four weeks after injury (yes 4 from injury, 3 from cast) it would have reabsorbed. No such luck. And nice snake skin too!

Foot bath before the next cast. Still not released to the boot yet :(
(focus went wonky)

She went for blue this time :)

The old cast in the garbage :) I wasn't in there when they removed it

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year 2014

This was my view from the top tub issuing in the new year this year... best decision I ever made... getting in there... I was nice and toasty watching all the fireworks going off all around - GREAT Show Liz and Butch!
Two finale boxes and a bunch of mortars - it was a great way to ring in the new year!

Who's the luckiest one of them all?

Getting ready to pull the wishbone!!
Photobomb by dad.

And we have a winner

Happy face!

No face. Booo Angie didn't win this year.

(I personally think she's. Winner daily as she's now a pseudo only child! Wait until she sees what the new year will bring!)

Christmas 2013

Merry Christmas 2013

her expression was NOT caught on camera for this one, she really DID love it - a LOT of colors for the girl to expand on her painting :)
Gotta love my IOU for a backscratcher - apparently a ROCKING one was ordered for me :)

cashews and wine, what more could a woman want?

Awkward pose when told to hold it in front of her chest instead of out towards me.  Silly girl - nope, she'll never be a model :)  We love her and will keep though!

 It's a supernatural thing :)

It's a Dr. Who thing (weeping angel I found at Goodwill) I could NOT resist getting it for her... she said, "it really creeps me out"  hahaha - I have done my job this year :)

What does the Fox say?  Oh, wait, that's a raccoon, disregard!
 It's a Dr. Who thing!

Angela got the GREAT gift of a computer drawing tablet - it's been the hit of the day for sure!
 It's still a Dr. Who thing... yes, she's a whovian :)

Note the weeping angel earrings as well as the bracelet :)  Gotta love these girls!
Car emergency kit because she'll be taking her car back to college with her along with a new parking pass thanks to Mom and Dad.  No to mention a new tire and a gift card for Wal-Mart that can be used at the Murphy Oil there in her town as well.  Lucky girl!

It's a thermos mug... somehow from the first look, it wasn't what he thought it was :)
Hers was at the bottom of the pile and she was VERY unsure she was getting one :)  Happy girl!
 Checking out this years Calendar
Lizzie checking out her book from our trip to Europe and all the photo matching that was done.
SCORE one for mom, I made her cry over her book from her trip to Italy!  She loved it!
she is still teary looking at the NEXT present... awh, tender hearted girl!
You'll shoot your eye out!!  ha!
Ornaments with the girls pictures in them  - awh!!
Thank you Uncle Donald and Aunt Robin!!

Everyone had a wonderful Christmas morning opening presents and eating on the variety of Muddy Buddies we got - yum!  peppermint and snicker doodle are surprisingly good :)  That and a cup of coffee and we were all happy.

The Turkey and ham and all the fixings for dinner with Mom and Dad!  We had a great long visit with them while they were here, we ate a HUGE meal and sent a lot of left overs home with them to enjoy later and still have a LOT left for us as well.  After a rest period after dinner we had a rousing game of Push the Dummy!

We hope our extended family also had a warm and wonderful holiday season wherever they were.
