CT follow ups. (Insert mysterious music)

Ok. The official report says this from the PET scan:

What does this mean? They were looking at a spot roughly .5” x .4” on my rights side when surprise!  It didn’t have a high uptake of the material they use for contrast. This means it’s not gobbling it up. I think it’s sugar based and cancer loves sugar. Who doesn’t right?

So. Right side not “hot” but the other side DID. Hurumph. Yep. Same size, different side. They are not playing nice.  They are JUST outside acceptable size ranges and one is “active”. Does this mean I definitely have a recurrence?  Nope. Does it mean I’m going to be watched closely. Yep.

Add in the report it shows that my lungs still show the little nodules (2) that can not be ruled out as metastatic cancer. They don’t show on the PET but it’s not a guarantee they are OK either. BUT after having nodules in the past I’m not too concerned with them in the long run. They could surprise me, but I’m doubtful.

The concern I have is the left side where it’s active because that’s in the area where I had the cancer. So it could be as they say “seeding” from the original cancer being removed.

Basically “we don’t know” is the answer and I go back in 90 days for a repeat scan. Fun times, fun times.

I had the vision of being like Christi with breast cancer. Go through treatment and have annual mammograms. That’s it. Nothing too indepth now that she’s past the original cancer

My body wants to just lurk and sprout weird things. I realize that now with all the new things popping up 5 year mark means diddly in my world.

I’ll mourn that loss and move along. But dang it, I was hoping to be that percent that sails through and is clean and done without looking back. Not meant to be for now.

Here’s hoping things in there calm the heck down and go away it just hold steady. The oncologist mentioned if no change at next scan (3 months) we back off to 6… this after German doctors for three years. I got complacent. They didn’t do much scanning. They leave you be and x-ray and ultrasound. NOT effective in early diagnosis….. but what if they are doing it right and NOT bombarding the body with radiation so frequently???  We shall never know. I just know I had a good time traveling Europe sans the whole Covid thing which put a damper on life…I enjoyed thinking I was golden.

Bum bum bum - shoe dropped on return. Ah well as my cancer community says, could be worse. Could be WAY worse. Starting to count my blessings again and move along and let it go…. Mourning period over. I have gardening and swimming (aka floating) to do now. It’s summer and I’m back in the land of HEAT!!!

Fun fabulous Fourth of July week!

Robert and Janet met us at the little house for a whole week of fun and sun in Fort Walton

Sitting and waiting at the landing for the fireworks to start. Funnel cakes were yummy!!!

I had a palm tree in my view but it was still a great show!

Looking for sand flea’s

Looking for shells and sand fleas. (Not sure why I don’t have a picture of one. They did catch a few)

Here’s one from the internet. What you can see in the outgoing wave is the antenna seen above on the far right. They spread them out to catch food to eat. Weird creatures a cross between a crab and a Rolly Polly. If you disturb them you can see them rolling out in the outgoing wave.

Butch and I and bo that’s not a green yarmulke. It’s an umbrella behind us. Ha!

Janet and I enjoying the sun and sand

Sandcastles from a different view point

Robert and I coming off the beach.

Afternoon of floating and swimming at the beach with Rob and Janet
I don’t know why I don’t go to the beach more often but Janet hit it on the head.  The pool is so much easier. We can just pop over and swim without having to lug stuff around.

A little drama one night as there was a shooting across the street at the rec center. Poor guy laid out there dead for hours in the hot hot sun. Sad to see. Cars were blocking him towards the end but Sally working for the city knew the gal working this end of the roadblock so she came over and we got the lowdown. It was sad even if it was drug deals gone wrong.

Not a lot of pictures. We ate at Stewbys a few times. Tried a new Thai place that was good. Had lunch with sally at Taco Town on Tuesday. Had Waffle House after that late afternoon at the beach as most restaurants were closed. Had pork links with peppers and onions one night and stuffed pork chops another night. We had at least two breakfasts with sausage and gravy which grandma loved. We played 5 crown, push the dummy and Rumicub.  Janet was sweet and got sally for large print cards that she could see well enough yo play push the dummy and hold her own!  She also bought her a large format Rumicub game. That one didn’t work as well, but she could see a bit of it.

I swear Janet’s sweet!

Angela even came down for two nights and theee days and was there for the 4th. I was so happy she came down!! (No phot proof of her!!). I am awful and really tend to just be there now rather than take pictures. It’s a lot more fun!!

Here’s hoping we can host more family down here over the years to come!!
