Flooring replacement

Well it took a year but the floors and in the house have been replaced.

There was a lot of back and forth in the amount of cupping being experienced throughout the house.
1st visit “yep, something is wrong”.
Independent inspection “yep, something is wrong”.
Results stated it was US. (our fault)
Nope, come take a piece that is warped and tell me it’s NOT the floor “
They came in again with the rep “something is wrong”.
     We KNOW!
Last result was “we will replace”.

Then we found they out NO underlay under this (plastic) and it’s a slab in the south. Of course it will sweat!  And so it began!!

It physically took three days to complete BUT it’s done!!

Where I worked on Monday. It was NOT really conducive to work, but it let me do what I needed for the day.

Even relaxing AFTER work was weird. I was in the chair shoved into the table reading updates on Facebook. I looked around and thought “good grief, what a mess!!”

Where they stopped day 1…. Flooring removed in 1/2 the room - replaced in 1/2 where all the furniture is sitting. Naked floors in dining room and living area. The rest jumbled with boxes and furniture.

Beautiful sunset however. ;)

After we moved all the boxes and stuff from the OTHER side of the house to this end!  What a mess!!

You can see the original red floor of the dining room.

Day two

What a mess. 1/2 done with the bedroom. This is where they left off.

Naked floors

Who knows WHY they left the potty room undone for the end!  Oh well, what do I care?

Why the fan??  Someone (not me) decided to wash down the shower walls this means the water flooded out UNDER the floor and was a HOT mess. It was moldy under there, meaning this wasn’t the first time this has happened. I blame that person AND crappy installation the first time as they left gap everywhere with lack of 1/4 round throughout. THIS crew fixed that. Thank goodness and added silicone at the shower joint to keep water from seeping under again.

And with that we’re DONE. Hopefully to NEVER repeat again. The edges all look professional and these guys did a good job.

The ONLY mishap wasn’t discovered until last night when my bed BROKE. Yep. 10pm and it was broken.

Not what I planned or wanted but we did a janky repair. The side rail had the actual clip pull out. There were some pins to hold it in place however they either broke or were pulled and twisted in such a way that the clip slid right past them. Sigh. So pulled apart the bed, Butch drilled the pins out and we put some bolts all the through to hold the clip in place. Is it pretty? Not really. Do I care?  Again not really. It will function until we either move to replace the frame on a whim. It’s all good. I was able to finally get to bed by 11pm so not all was lost ;) thank goodness it was fixable.

Butch’s birthday

Liz took us all out to eat at La Bella’s Mexican then we went on a flashlight tour of Rose Hill Cemetery. It was interesting the little I listened to. We did find where Liz had her photos taken for her sweet 16. Fun times.

Mother’s Day in Utah

And NO pictures. What is wrong with me??
I got delayed in Georgia departing due to BAD storms rolling through in the morning. I had left the house at 12pm to go drop packages at the post office and get gas because I forgot the night before.
I got the delay notification AFTER I left and was not able to listen to anything due to the storms pounding in my roof. BUT I got to the airport to THIS mad house. Why?  Some flights were outright cancelled and/or severely delayed. So THIS is what the airport looked like.

It was FULL all the way down to the end. So I left. I did walk to the end to the restaurant that had some seating. It had a LONG line waiting for openings. So I went to international terminal :)

Empty in most areas. I had nachos in the food court

They were nummy. Diet out the window !!
The flight after that was u eventful.

Due to the delays that meant I was delayed getting there and a LONG late drive to Cedar city. I got in at 1:45am on Friday. Went to bed and got up at 8am. Headed over to visit with mom. I DID take a nap that day as well :)

We are all about food most days so mom and I went to Appleby's for lunch Friday before Robert and Janet made it to town. Last we knew he was iffy on coming down.

Mom down her main meal at lunch. Works for me. We didn’t go to any breakfasts out while I was there which was unusual for us. Robert and Janet get there and we visited with them, played games and hung out.

We went to Lupitas for lunch on Saturday for Mexican. More games and Gayla (mikes sister) came into town. So more games. While Linda and Mike drove to St George to pick up Gayla from the airport Robert, Janet, me and mom went to Pizza Hut for dinner and got personal pan pizzas and cheesy bread sticks. Mmmmm again HORRIBLE for my diet but it was fun!

Just a pretty thunder head. It seemed like we had rain and clouds nightly.

We tried to see the northern lights. This shot as from Caroline she did a long exposure to get this as they weren’t visible to the naked eye.

Sunday morning I went to Robert and Janet’s hotel to eat breakfast with them. It was yummy

Sunday was also church with mom and the roof didn’t fall in!  We went to Smiths to get mom groceries and then went to Linda’s for a nice rib dinner with Gayla, her niece Tina, Eric, Matt, Caroline, Linda, Mom and me. Mike was coming down with a cold .. and my froggy throughly also turned out to be a cold :( we played games for a bit until mom peetered out at 7:45. I took her home and said my goodbyes for another good visit. I went back to Linda’s and played a few more games with her and Gayla before going to pack and get some sleep before my 5:15am wake up to get in the road at 5:30. I was about 15 minutes slower than I planned. Whoops. I did shower and was dragging as my cold was starting to kick in a bit last night with some midnight nose blowing while going potty. Oh well, I made it.  I had plans of eating cold pizza on the road but forgot it. Oh well Linda will reap the benefits of those leftovers. :)

I stopped at the gas station at the Ely exit in north Vegas. I also picked up some expensive DayQuil tablets (well worth it) and some vitamin C packets. I took one packet of each before my flight.

I did have a weird thing about the car rental shuttle. He asked me for my rental agreement. THAT is a first. Apparently there is another rental place next door that they do not support and those people keep trying to take the wrong Shuttle. Weird. Anyway made it to the airport, zipped through to the gate calmly and stopped to play a few try’s at Wheel of Fortune. I LOST big time. Oh well. Ya gotta try.

My upgraded seat was good. It was right behind first class with arm rest monitors (not my favorite).

And it’s COLD here. What the crap!?  65 degrees. I was looking forward to heat! Oh well.

BUT I came home to my lilies in bloom!

The great spring clean. Days 1 & 2

Porch 1 cleaned off. Table taken out, washed down and returned. Most of the shelf organized and wiped down.

The deck is next. But what a view!!

My view today as I rested and recouped from all that work!! Love my hammock chairs.

Day 2

I went to a few estate sales and Liz LOVES pictures of Victorian children and her boyfriend does not. He says they are going to haunt them. Hahahah. So we sent him THESE pictures. Things of concern on those beds!!

It is cicada time here as well. So for your viewing pleasure cicada under glass.

There was one on a step that I joked to Liz it may fly up her pants - hahaha. It did not :)

Back to The house where Butch  had already started on the rest of the porch. He had pulled the rugs and pressure washed them and hung them on the fence to dry. So I parked and came out to assist.

The OG porch all washed off and ready to be redressed.

Butch out there pressure washing the yucky deck.
I got busy and tore down the umbrella that was beside the pool as it was rotted and the renters apparently had a dog (or feral child) who chewed on all the knobs at knee high. Fun times. I pulled all the weights, drained them then used my trusty wagon to tump it over onto and dragged it to the street. Ingenuity at its best when you can’t lift more the 30#. Yay me. I got it done.

Then I started pulling all the chairs back in place.

THEN I rested and enjoyed the porch for a minute under the fans.

Back at it!!

I put together the seating area out by the Grill pergola - not that we HAVE a grill. Note to self need to buy one of those. We have the green egg but we need a gas grill for quick grilling.

And with that the pool is “open”. Come on out!!

Drama on the porch

I went to the porch to enjoy my coffee and ended up spilling it. Why?  A dove flew out while I was walking out. Scared the bejebus outta me. The. I noted a female sitting in a nest in there as well. Sigh. No ma’am. You may NOT raise your babies on the porch. Especially not on the pool skmmer. No ma’am. I spent the morning chasing them away.

I put the owl over there. They didn’t care. I have put snakes in there in the past. They make meats on top of them. Silly birds. I finally put plastic sheeting over it all. Then they tried to build on top of that. Sorry fellas. I love you, but NO. This is not where you build a home.

I did a flower walk as well.

The red amaryllis are coming in well. Along with the elephant ears. I need to MOVE some.

Wisteria is also finally coming in. Their wild cousin have come and gone so I had suspected mine were traumatized by their brutal hair cut. 🤣

Iris are also still going. Beautiful!!

Even my ice plant is starting to bloom :)

More Amaryllis

And a bonus Frog :) he’s cute!!
