Prom dress adventures

Life lessons were learned this year on not delaying until the last minute to get a dress. The dance is on the 22nd. We looked at the first set of dresses on the 13th. Yep. 13th.

Here are a few dresses from our trip to Macon.

I like this one. I was told it's an old lady dress. Hum. I am old, so I guess that's why I like it. :)

She liked this one until there were negative comments from others saying they didn't like it. Sigh. Look at that smile :)

THIS is how she was feeling about the whole process. Ha!!

So. I was picking Robert up at the airport at 9 on Thursday (14th) so I told her we could go to the BIG malls there. Surely there would be more options there, right??

I had an appointment at 3 that started late so I was late headed to the house and we finally left town at close to 5. Yikes!! Two hours to the north side of town. Double yikes!!! Not a lot of time in the stores. Traffic is even worse than normal due to the fire collapsing the overpass, taking out a portion of I-85. BUT we pulled in at 6:30 - 6:45ish.

Of course parking is looking rough. I went down by Dillard's which also happens to be next to the Cheesecake Factory. BUT the parking Gods were shining on us and I pulled around the corner and there was a spot in the VERY front!!

Into Dillard's. Try on the first set:

The only one that made the photo cut. There was a cute two piece number in blue that had there been one in better shape and in her size would have been SUPER cute. Ok. No biggie. Off to Nordstrom.

VERY few dresses. This again is the only one to make the photo cut and only because she liked it. I didn't really like it. I didn't think it was as flattering as a dress could be for her. We had them hold it for us.
Off to Macy's.

Again only one that made the cut....
AND the dress that was chosen as "THE" dress. Yay!!! Prom dress found!'

By the way it's now 8:30 and we have to get Robert from the airport 45 minutes south...BUT my logic is that he checked luggage...that will take a few minutes more. We're fine!!

Our dinner consisted of carbs, carbs and more carbs. We got FIVE Cinnabon rolls. In our defense that was one each on the way home and one for the morning and one for Butch. Perfectly justifiable. Then we also got salty with Aunt Annie's Pretzel bites. Yeah, we are that bad!!

Off to get Robert!! Stop to get gas, pee and get drinks for the ride home!! Get to the airport in RECORD time. Get a text from him just as I'm walking into the gas station about hi just landing. Whoops. I'm still about 15 minutes out! Get there. No-one is at the airport hardly so I do the no-no and sit. Yeah. They moved me on just as we thought he would be coming out. The good/bad news? It took two more rounds before he came out. He chucked his stuff in the back, jumped in and off we went!! It was 9:45 by then!! Oh well. I ended up getting home at 11:45 and slept like a LOG

Pool leaks ...

Sometime last year before Angela and I went on out trip to to Ireland the pool was leaking like a sieve. We FINALLY got someone out to look at it and isolate it to the return jet in the pool. Yeah. About a year ago. I'll have to wait for it to pop up on my Facebook feed to give a definite date on when we finally got the thing figured out. Anyway. We waited and waited for them (the original pool people) to come back. Nope. Not that fall when I thought they would. Then the freezes came. Yeah. Not then. Then spring rolled around. Nope not then either.

So I gave up and called around and TODAY (even after being forgotten AGAIN) and having to call the man to ask if he was coming. TODAY this is what is happening at my house!!!!

So they pressure tested with a compressor. I could HEAR the gurgle and there was NO doubt that the leak was there!!

They cut and then they started hammering.

And digging

And digging....

(Ok NOW is when the series get funny.). They are pressurizing the line again....

Where IS the leak?? Can you HEAR it or see exactly where it's coming from?

Puts his head in hole to see if he can hear it.

Is it on??

Yep!!! He can move fast!!!

There is a BIG stream of water!!

Up close. The pool guy barely avoided this one one. Disaster waiting to happen for sure. So. We're on the mend!! Yay!!!

Grinders on holes. Pull out old crappy job, put in new pretty job!!

Lots of work!!!

Next up new pipe between A and B and we're back in business. I'm thrilled!!

Mud put back in the hole with some odd pieces of concrete.

The actual concrete fix came about dark and quite frankly after I was over my thill of the whole process, so here is what I can see by the outdoor lights.

Yeah. Way too dark a picture for sure. Pretty much dark wet concrete. No, I didn't put my initials in it!

We have two hoses filling the pool with water as I type. :) it may be full by 11pm at this rate.

More spring and yard stuff

Well, I have no pictures of the mulch that I finished. Drat it!!

I do have these pretty Amaryllis blooms that have sprouted on my wall :)

And a sneak visitor.

What I thought was a dog turned out to be a raccoon. You can see his bum just to the left of the set of three trees in the back. He was limping on his way back. :(

Here you can see a blob of him just to the right of the trunk where the two branches go left and right at the same level. Now is where I wish we could just add a circle on the screen.

You can see his ears peeking over the top of the squirrel nest...looks like he has a twig sprouting from the middle of his head - ha!

Ah, for want of a better camera at that moment. Oh, well. I spotted him and took what pictures I could.

He had such a hard time getting to the top that I didn't have the heart to do more than just talk to him at that point. Hope he got some much needed rest and moved on. Time will tell, eh?

Spring

Dollar tree bulbs. Here's hoping they all bloom!!

Choppers back the butterfly bush. It was getting to big for its britches! It was over 5' tall and was hard to see past anymore.

All the refuse from the small clean up I just Dodd. Cleaned up the elephant ears and the banana plant too.

Need to get some mulch but it keeps raining. No one wants to buy/haul/spread wet mulch. Yuck!!

Clean up.

In an effort to end this:

I have been cleaning my computer room/office to make room for Butch's stuff. So far I have cleaned off "his" side of the office desk:

Yeah I need to move my computer and projects back to my side

These frames have been here for YEARs and I finally mounted the plastic canvas to make one an earring holder.

Shadow box with baby spoons needs a home too!!

BUT here is the problem. My side of the desk AFTER cleaning STILL looks like this:

Yeah, there is no hope for me!!

Full Moons and cameras

Butch bought a new professional camera he was playing around with and taking pictures of the full moon the other night... I decided to break out my Cannon point and shoot that has the 14x lens.  I think I like that camera.  I've given it to Liz to take back to college with her to try out.  We'll see what she thinks of it once she gets a chance to play around with it and take some pictures.

Not too shabby, eh?

Someone is feeling the Valentine spirit!

The banner is from the Teresa Collins scrap event I went to the the fall. The rose colored glasses are Dollar Tree finds. Gotta love them!
