Weekend escape to Savannah (AKA Liz's belated 21st)

This weekend I went and kidnapped Liz for a night in Savannah for a belated birthday weekend.

First up - think Liz needed new shoes? She got a great buy one get one half off so she got some sandals too. Bonus!

We shopped. We ate. We shopped a few more stores then headed for the hotel. I did a Priceline name your price. I managed to get the Hyatt Regency. in Historic downtown for 55% off advertised price. Saweeettttt!!

Liz would agree!!

Atrium view. Nice. Would have loved water view. Should have upgraded. Oh well.

Going downstairs to find some dinner.

Strange sights along along the way!

Rather creepy. Apparently Luz is wigged out by this. She refused to go down there for pictures.

THIS is funny!!!

Our thoughts on the matter :)

Why is Deadpool here?? It's a comic con of sorts.

And then this was the view at dinner. Hahaha!!

Then what are two girls of the world to do when they're out in the town and it's cool outside? Go back to the hotel to watch Zootopia on pay per view. :)

I woke up a few times during the night. Once at 2am when the gruff kicked in with a super loud compressor noise. Then again at 3am with some drinks coming in for the night. Oh and once more at 7:30 with the neighbors who felt the need to converse loudly with the door to their room open and the hair dryer running on high. Fun, fun, fun. I was in full vacation mode and rolled over and went back to sleep eventually. We took our dear sweet time getting up, ready and heading out.

We headed to the outlet mall in Pooler to find a dress for Lizzie to wear to a wedding this summer. She sound the perfect one that will go day or evening. :)

We then made our way back to Statesboro the back way and chatted in the way home. :)

A fun weekend.

Spring!!

Amaryllis starting to bloom. There are a few more on the far side that aren't quite budding. Those are my pale ones.

A few new wave petunias.

A few old snapdragons from last year that came back beautifully

These are also from last year. They were in with my tomatoes for some color.

Day lilies

Thriving along the wall

Verbena gone wild. Too bad those down farther just never seem to make it :(

One of the few daisies surviving this year. It's too wet for them in this side. Although some of these are a few years old ... Hummm

Iris. Just ONE bud out there. Wonder what I need to do to encourage them??

And THIS is the price we pay for such lovely green spring. Pollen everywhere from the pines. Yuck. Time to wash the deck stuff off!!

Mom and dads yard sale

The yard sale/AKA garage clean out was scheduled for the weekend of the 1st but rain and a near tornado coming through to the north of us put a stop to that.

The sale moved out to the 8th and 9th.

It was a slow day in Friday but I enjoyed watching the birds while snuggling up on the porch. It turned out to be a cold and windy weekend for a yard sale.

Tuesday mom and I took the nicer things to the Consigment store in hopes of selling a bit more.

Today we did the run to the recycle place for all the mixed metals.

And with that we're done and ... Drum roll please. No. More. Garage. Sales. Ever.

:)

Driving test!

Yes, I'm taking pictures through the blinds at the DMV. How funny, eh??

And they're off to the back lot to test the cones. I watched it from the porch here but didn't take pictures ;). I was talking to Butch at that point.

Waiting for her to get back!!

Hard to tell. Did you pass????

Well???

That's a YES!! She got a 94 on her driving test. Whoop!!!

She's a driver now!!

10 weeks and 1 day to Angela's "Senior" trip

It's 10 weeks and 1 day until Angela's trip to Ireland/Scotland/England and how much to I have planned - well, not a lot.
I have the flight scheduled. 28th departure - 29th arrival into Dublin
The first hotel booked (in the HEART of Dublin)
The LAST hotel booked. Why, you ask? A 10am departure on June 11th will make you think twice about WHERE you are staying just before you bail out of town. We're staying a bit out of town but will have an airport shuttle (plus) so that we can get up at a good time of the morning - take a shuttle to the airport and be whisked back home after our whirlwind tour.

What are we seeing? So far all we have that is definite is:
Stonehenge
Bath (to SEE the baths)
Cardiff to do the Dr. Who experience and look around.

See some castles along the way - see the Blarney stone if not KISS the blarney stone (the thought of kissing it along with THOUSANDS of others makes me ill)

Goodwill Paintings

Two paintings were located recently at Goodwill. I'm still iffy about the frames. The info behind the paintings that I know.

Signature on the smaller painting.

The reverse side of the larger unsigned painting.

The lighting where I plan on hanging them. And, well, I overestimated the size of the wall I would put them on. Not sure I'll be able to hang them both on that wall or not. It's a debate that may rage on for a while.
