A full day's work

What did I do today? Well now that's a loaded question. So let's start. I got up, got dressed and came to Sally's for breakfast (brought sausage). The door was shut and blinds closed so I started to head on back to the house. My timing was perfect. Sally was already up and was just starting coffee so she let me in ;)

After a good breakfast I headed back to my place to do odds and ends stuff while waiting for the bunk bed delivery.

I started with the light fixtures.

The bottom ones have been sprayed with paint remover the top left is not.

This is my NEW love. Really. Awesome stuff. Cut through years of paint in 5 minutes I spent some time scraping and scrubbing and sanding. The original ones were stainless. I would have loved to have left them stainless however there was too much pitting. Sad, really.

Painted after their scrape and buff job.

What they look like installed.

Very nice.

While in the laundry I took some pictures of the "filter" the last people put in the window. Weird as the glass was painted and darkened. The screen was filtered for whatever reason however it didn't work as one as the window was painted shut so wouldn't open.

The frame.

And removing the old metal screen and wedges. I'm think I can get it screened tomorrow. We shall see!

Then @ 9:30am look who showed up!

This is Rooms-to-Go. In a rental truck. Weird, but OK.

And the first frame going in. Looking better than I thought. We will have PLENTY of room.

Finishing up the assembly of the last bed!

And they're installed!!!

And staged... Debating a white table...

Or the teal. I think the teal wins!! I actually like the contrast.

The OTHER lamp we found on our travels. Love the glass float look of it!!

So. I also hung some art after lunch!

The master...

Entry hall...
Need to clean or paint that door!!
And put a door handle on the closet door (lots of odds and ends to do!!)

One more in the hall...

And one in the kitchen. I think this one needs to shift right. My measurement was a little off. Oh well, spackle and paint will fix that!

I then went for a swim with Sally. When I got home to shower I discovered I have NO hot water. Nope, not a drop. Sigh. Good thing it's hot outside and I was OK with the cool shower I got. Ugh. So I tried to figure out how to light the pilot. Yeah, no start. Nothing, Nada. I about lost my sh*t. Standing on my head in a hot laundry room trying to figure out HOW to light a pilot. Nothing. It was 5 minutes to 5pm and the plumbing place who worked on it Monday wasn't open. I wonder now if he shut it off as we haven't showered much this week. Gross, I know, but really three showers were taken in those few days since then. Not long showers and not HOT showers as were hot and sweaty... So not sure when it stopped heating. But really. If he shut the gas off the I'm pretty sure pressure tested the line - why would he shut it back off again? I'm still confused with this one. Thinking that when he shut it off to do the pipe he didn't do anything with the heater or the hot water heater. Wouldn't that mean it was leaking all that time???? Apparently not according to Google.

Ugh!!! Frustrations.

Then I went to Sears to get a range hood. What a joke. They have goods on their sight they don't have anything to do with. They won't install, they just have them on their sight. What the?? Ugh!! So I gave up. I went to Home Depot $900. Not installed. So I gave up for good and we went to dinner!!

Guess where we went??

Yep Stewby's. Love the place! Fried shrimp. Yum!

After that it was a trip to Walmart to buy eight pillows - yep, you read that right EIGHT pillows. Why eight? Well each bunk has a decorative pillow with sham AND a pillow in a pillow case. So how did I get pillows for the staged pictures? Well, I stood them from. The OTHER two bedrooms decorative shams. ;)

So with 8 pillows I should be back up to snuff on having enough pillows for all the shams and all the beds. Well, with the exception of the sleeper sofa, but we will deal with that later when it's delivered in July.

And a vacuum.

And with that it was drive home and watch some TV with Sally this evening.

Fat, happy and full of shrimp :P

Another room near complete

Today Elizabeth went back to work/college/home. :( Before she left she helped me put the dust ruffles on the queens (no more "faking" the photos!). We also put the small rug in the bunk room and decided it was too "brown" to really work well with the bedding and the bunks. So it was pulled back up and put in the closet.

While Liz was sleeping I put the dishes away.

After we had some breakfast and Liz drove out I went back to the house and puttered around. I vacuumed the house and put stuff away and organized.

Elizabeth helped put the bedroom on her side.

We're not happy with the night stands but that can be fixed. We love the lamps (purchased yesterday at Old Time Pottery)

We hated the yellow shades but loved the lamps enough to go ahead with buying the lamps. I'll look for replacement shades that are more white and barrel.

The art for the room is on the floor. I will need more. I'll work on that. And hang these.

At about 10:30 I took a break while I took Sally to her Drs appointment.

When I got back from appointments and went took naps. Ahhhh! I tried to limit mine. I had an alarm. I snoozed a few times ;)

I finally got up and went back to wrk. I had sprayed the laundry room window panels with paint remover before snoozing.

We now have clear glass in the laundry

Nice and bright in there now!
I looked for pictures of the original look and can't find any. It had what looked like a filter. And it was. It was the outside layer of a filter over the screen frame. So next up putting a screen into that frame.

I'm not sure that I'll do anything else tonight. I think I'll save it for tomorrow as I have to be at the house the whole day.

**late addition**

With the light on isn't horrible. It may stay this way a while. See if it grows on me.

Work, work, work

This morning was competing the paint in the kitchen. It's all done including baseboards.

I also had to finish the refrigerator opening so it would fit. I got it all sanded down and prepped for trim paint.

I also cleaned the floor in the bunk room. It's all clean and looking spiffy. Tomorrow I will be putting the rug in there in prep of the bunk beds coming in....WHHHHAAAA? Yup you read that right. Bunk beds have been purchased.

Mine is without the trundle under and the nice thing is that there is a LOT of headroom under these. I'm excited.

This is the couch I THOUGHT I was going to Rooms-To-Go. The bad news it was now discontinued. Drat it!! So I had the nice sales lady show me around.

In the meantime I found THIS entertainment console!! LOVE!! Bought!!!

This is the sofa we bought. It's so pretty. The pillows will need to be replaced with something solid that will go with the chairs (^^~,€^#~? Chairs that I'm trying to coordinate with!!). Hind sight is 20/20.

We also shopped till we dropped after that. Back to Home Goods to get the lamps we saw the day prior and they were GONE. Yep. It wasn't meant to be :( we then went to Target and Old Time Pottery to lamp shop. We found GREAT substitutes and they cost less. Win/win!

And in the room.

New lamps a few more pillows were purchase to fill shams and some bed side rugs.

And behind the scenes. I really had NOT put the dust ruffle in the bed, just tucked it under the bedspread...

And everything that was on the bedsides is now on the dresser...

And other stuff tossed toward the closet ;)

And the 2nd queen ....well, let's just say it still needs some work ;)

But the bunk room is looking ROCKING good in the floor area. All cleaned up and ready to go.

Our reaction to spend the amount of money I did today!!

And a fun comparison. The left is my lose lamps. Right the new pick. I didn't think I would like the burlap shades as much as I do! And the rugs really add to the experience.

Where's the love (aka day four)

Well, the tile being installed made it impossible to push the fridge into its hole. Ugh!!! I have been working on getting the hole expanded. Aka chiseling at the wood like a fool and I'll be sanding like one tomorrow. Today I noted we failed to put the blasted sanding pads into the car. Sigh. The good news to this is I had to go to Home Depot for another gallon of wall paint. Five gallons apparently doesn't cover a whole house even with coats of Kilz under it. Sigh. More paint purchased.

Along with that purchase a short girls fence fix as I had to go let her in (or out to grandmas) because she can't reach over the fence to unlatch the gate. The good news is now this is fixed ;) one loop and an eye hook and all is well.

Oh and replacement sanding pads. Hey we can fix this stupidity thing - sometimes.

Remember the statement yesterday about the electrical? Yeah, that would be us not reading the contract fully. Whoops. We are up to code, just not where Butch wanted to me. Another sigh. This too can be fixed.

So. We had the gas line extended today for cabinet prep. Yes, it paid to have me here to ensure the cut off was in the right pace for cabinet placement. All is well and the extension is in place and ready to go.

They were late of course, but it's done. Next up shopping.

Ok I LOVE to shop for bargains, but REAL shopping? Freaks me out! So. We went to Home Goods, Marshalls, Walmart - hey, some things are just grand at Walmart - like plungers! Then Ross and Tuesday Morning, then a furniture store followed closely by the Sleep center (bunk bed hunt!) then to TJ Maxx and Books-a-million (gotta keep the kid happy!!)

What did we find?

Home goods was the biggest find with pillows, art (too cute coral beach sign), lamp shades. Thinking the lamp shades are going back and some new lamps are in order for the master bedroom. Something with blue glass and twine!

TJ Maxx was the last good find with pictures. This is going in the kitchen actually. But for now we'll leave it here for safe keeping.

This is going in the entry hall.

What we brought from home.
We will also get Don to come over and look. He may shift is all around.

Tape needs to come up out of the hall too

Oh and these floors. Shoot me now end stands are wobbling too and fro in the master. Frustrating for sure!!

The other things purchased where hooks for the bathroom. Hooks for the bedrooms for clothing and wet towels. Dust ruffles and as I said earlier, plungers. Ha! You thought I was kidding didn't you?

So for a 1/2 day of shopping, not nearly enough was found, but this too shall pass.

Oh we did find the perfect TV cabinet at one store however when I asked if they had another they said no and when I asked about the price with the dings and a crack the manager asked for a price then walked away to take care of someone else and we discovered the crack was a break in the load bearing board so we left. It wasn't meant to be.

Day three (or is this two?)

I really wish I could go quicker on stuff. It's hard to heard cats. The kids don't want to work, don't come prepped to WORK and are generally lazy and want to sleep all day. And I stand in the middle wondering what is going to get done. BUT amidst much crying and gnashing of teeth the bathroom fan is IN!! I'm thrilled. It's a super quite one as its on any time the light is in.

And just to show you a few more lovely accomplishments Don (Butchs brother) was sweet enough to put in all of the A/C diffusers. You probably won't know this but that is also a NEW light fixture for the bath as well. Always a bonus.

I have issues with the floors being constantly dirty and there is stuff EVERYWHERE still. No order. BUT. I have to remind myself if JUST Monday.

OH and during the rewire of the fab it was discovered the outlets in the house are NOT grounded. And it's paid for. UGH. Really!?? I'm NOT happy and not sure what they did first he two thousand!! I sent him an email and will be calling him today.

How the girlies have been since getting together this weekend. So nice to see them huddled together catching up ;)

My haven in the storm that is construction ;)

The ONE wall that is wall color. I ran out of wall paint. Apparently 5 gallons only covers majority of the house. I ended up with ONE pan of paint in the end. Sigh.

Love the morning sun in here and can't wait to see it CLEAN and with morning sun :)

Another accomplish or two. New toilet roll holder. Swing arm one. How cool is that? Lol I need to get out more since that excited me. And two new towel hooks.

Oops make that TREE hooks up. And a new hand towel I got at Ollies in Macon.

And where I'm writing this from as I need to update my list and its 6:30 so I have a bit of a wait until the gas folks get here this morning.

Hopefully the electrician will come this morning too.

While waiting, we repaint baseboards.

Then it's off to places unknown to get needed items for the house (lampshades, extension cords, curtains).
